you go to the hp spec page for your model look and see what hp allows for a cpu upgrade and choose the best one that's listed as supported if any by them on it ??
the ones they [hp] lists may be all that's supported under there bios for the board and that's all you can use ..

thing is hp's bios support of any chip just like any boards and its bios support for any cpu not listed may not be supported ??? how hard is that ??

its a laptop ?/ then yes to whats said above on hard soldered in place its a bga socket [I need more coffee and over looked that ] sorry

Actually AMD only switched to soldered chips for E series and A series Kaveri and later. The Llano, Trinity and Richland chips are all socketed.
