not yet i was using the GPU in my computer build before i installed the z97-a with out problems but will try with out to be sure

The point of doing that is to remove load from the PSU. Anytime a PC just turns off for no apparent reason it is almost always the PSU. The wattage of it isn't really the issue but the quality of output, could be a sign of a failing or overheating PSU. Is the PSU getting sufficient airflow (Is the PSU fan running? Is the intake blocked?)?

ok just wanted to give an update put in a new EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 80+ GOLD same problem. useing a antec 1200 case all fans are on an working SinxarKnights even took the video card out an used the mobo display port same thing.

i might have a problem with the stock cooler its on an running but when ever i can boot up an get into bios my temps are in the 40's an once after a reboot i went into bios to check an temps where in the 50's ( i would check temps at desk top but i'm having problems connecting to net for some reason)

*update* i installed HWmonitor an temps looked fine at desk top far as i can tell stayed at about 30 for cpu so now im at a loss as to what it could be

tried to boot up the pc just now an just got a black screen it would flash every few seconds an randomly get to the bios boot screen only to reboot again did that about 4 or 5 times when ever i did make it to the windows did not shut down correctly screen it would just reboot again.

*Final update*

looks like it was the reset wire going crazy unplugged it an pc has been running fine for now any way lets see how long it last thanks every one for the help!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I had been having almost his exact same issue.

I had a very similar system, 4790K, Asus Z97M-PLUS motherboard, 650W Corsair PSU, Asus GTX970, Corsair 8GB x 2, Samsung m.2 SSD.

My random rebooting began around a year ago, and it was driving me nuts. My system would randomly reboot, and sometimes in an infinite loop, and sometimes sitting at the computer startup, and even while sitting in the BIOS page.

At first, I tried what everyone suggests, play around with the memory sticks, diagnostic tests, minimal system, remove GPU, swap out PSU, plug into the wall, etc. I have quality components, so I really hoped I didn't have to replace parts. Mine is an old system, so I definitely wanted to minimize any cost to fix this. I was hesitant to buy new components just to systematically eliminate each possibly failing component.

I read your post, and never imagined that the reset switch could be the cause. It makes perfect sense, as if the reset switch is going haywire, it would cause the system to reset!

I actually unplugged most of my case connectors from the motherboard (USBs, reset switch), and it has been solid since! My random reboots were very erratic, sometimes being okay for weeks, so I am waiting until I have a few solid months of steady function before I start plugging components back in.

It's just amazing, a complex thing like a computer, tons of tech, components, and in the end, it's a 50-cent part that brings it all down.

Again THANK YOU!
