Hi I have an fx x6 6300 (6 core) and my task manager at the performance tab where I look at my cpu says 3 cores,is this a problem?
Thanks in advance.

Two things to check as the answer you got was incorrect. msconfig, boot menu, advanced options will show how many cores are enabled. If only 3 are enabled you can change to 6. Also go to bios and check there to see how many cores are enabled. This setting can be changed in bios, then reboot. If this doesn't bring the idle cores online (as shown by task manager) then it is possible you have damaged three cores, possibly through overclocking. If you don't believe this go to intel and download their Processor Diagnostic Tool. It will immediately show the number of cores that are operating.

They are a "6-core" but the system reads it as 3 cores and 6 threads based on how the CPU is designed it doesn't show up as an actual "6-core" in the system itself. I could get more in-depth on the technical side as it is the way it is if you want. But short answer, no, nothing is wrong.
