Hi, I recently purchased the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 100ME 2GB graphics card and ran into problems with it overheating very quickly when playing games. I only play WoW, which to my understanding isn't a very demanding game, and when playing on any settings, even the lowest, temperatures are reaching 90 degrees celsius and up. The card is new, the fans kick in and work, but the temperatures don't ever drop.. what could be the problem? Can someone help me out please. I will try and give you guys as much information as possible about my system to help find a solution

CPU - intel core i7 4790
16gb ram
Motherboard - ASRock H81M-HDS
850w corsair powersupply (new as well) so power to the card shouldn't be an issue
case - Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper

I will try to provide any additional information if needed. Heres a picture of the inside of my case in case there is an issue with the fans positioning

Also have tried adjusting fan speeds for certain temps in msi afterburner with no results

Solution

Has it been doing this the whole time or has this just started recently? If it has been like this the whole time then I stand by my statement. If it just started then it's likely something else.

If adjusting your fan speeds hasn't done you any good my guess is that the thermal paste on your GPU wasn't applied well and is having a difficult time transferring heat. You can fix it yourself if you feel comfortable doing so or you could try and RMA the card.

Do you think after only 3 months the paste they would have applied went bad or they didn't apply it correctly?

It had started about a month ago, could it be my fans working against each other in my case? I dont believe they are but I could be wrong, check out the image I posted

Hmm I don't know enough about air flow to give you a precise answer, however my fan setup isn't too far off of yours and I don't get nearly the temps you do.
