Cloned SSD refuses to boot

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a SanDisk Ultra 980GB SSD with the intention of having it replace my old 500GB HDD. I did a drive-to-drive clone using DriveImage XML, then removed the HDD and tried to set the new SSD as the boot drive in my BIOS. Instead of running, It displays a "Reboot and select proper boot device" message, and will not allow me to boot up. If I reconnect my HDD however, I can still boot it up just fine. But any attempt to start up my system using the cloned SSD results in that message.

Is there something I'm missing? Is it perhaps the results of a poor cloning attempt, or some other reason? I've arranged the boot drive settings and boot priority settings in the BIOS all I could, but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Solution
possibly the drive is formatted incorrectly. if you are formatted to gpt from the old os, the new os has to be on gpt. if you are formatted to mbr from the old os, the new os has to be on mbr.

you can format with this program from free bootable cd. it will also tell you what drive is formated as what. make sure both drives are the same. reinstall the old drive if you havent.

Solution
You didnt clone it to be a bootable drive. Some software has the capability to do this, some does not, some have the option you must select when you start the procedure. This software you are using, did it come from the drive manufactures website? Most drive manufactures have a program which will work with their drives to do this.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. The best I can do right now is wipe the SSD and try again with a different program. This time, I'll use Acronis True Image 2016 to do the cloning. If this also doesn't work, I'll try using Reflect.
