Recommend me a motherboard?

Hi all, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind recommending me a motherboard for when I upgrade to Skylake. I'm having a lot of trouble.

Computer uses: Running and coding a lightweight Steam trading bot on a small windows 7 virtual PC, run windows 10 home on host, gaming, web browsing.

I'm thinking that I would like a motherboard that would help a newbie overclocker like me get a little more bang for the buck out of an i5-6600K so that I won't miss my expensive i7-3820. I've learned a little more now, and have learned that an i7 is often a waste due to the small boost in gaming performance.

I understand how to overclock and am not averse to learning more. But I would still like to, just for the sake of time management, stick with a motherboard that had a lot of automatic overclocking features. I am also strongly considering watercooling for the CPU.

Motherboard features dedicated to gaming are nice, but not just because they are called gaming. I am aware not all "gaming" features on mobo's are very useful but I am keen to hearing about some that are interesting/nice/helpful.

I would also like to really be somewhat future-proof. There is a lot of nice tech coming out that I don't want to miss. But I also don't want to waste money on things I won't need.

This is much less important but it would be nice to have something that fit a white/blue/black color scheme.

EDIT: No budget included! This is intentional. I can spend lots of money, so long as I'm not wasting any. Unless there are some more expensive motherboards out there that I don't know about, then just consider anything under $400 fair game.

Thank you so much for any help!

This is the motherboard I would suggest: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xud3

It's mid-range but looks classy instead of gaudy like the first one I suggested. This motherboard should satisfy 99%...

Since you didn't really give us a budget to go off of for the mobo itself here are a few options that can all oc just fine at different price points. For the record I'd go with the cheapest option because it overclocks quite well at a reasonable price, but that's up to you.

Mid-Range Board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170mxgaming5

High-End Board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusviiihero

That was actually intentional, sorry if I'm breaking a rule. Usually I check. But pretend there is no budget, I just don't want to waste money on something that won't provide me a benefit I'm really looking for.

And about the overclock - I know not all BIOS make it as easy as can be. So...even though I am not too lazy about researching, pretend I'm really stupid! Haha, does that make it any easier to recommend one of the boards you picked out?

THANKS!

It's mid-range but looks classy instead of gaudy like the first one I suggested. This motherboard should satisfy 99% of gamers really. You'd need to want all the frills and features of an overkill motherboard to want something better than this, it will overclock just fine, no need for you to spend any more unless you want the utmost premium parts.

Man, great reply! I am so glad I decided to ask because your answer has just the kind of clarity I was looking for. I should have asked you about my last build...my current motherboard is pretty so-so lol. Thank you so much!!!
