My friend thinks that his RAM is worth $1000 - how can I prove to him it's not?

This is a long story, but essentially my friend got scammed. He thought he was getting 16gb of Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz, but instead he got 8gb of this weird RAM from 2009. He looked up the serial code and on Corsair's website it is priced at $1000. On Amazon.com the RAM is priced at $200 (used), and in various other places it is priced at absurd rates. He has made some compromises saying it's not quite worth $1000, but he is still being a jerk and going around saying that his RAM is worth more than my entire PC. How can I prove to him that this RAM is NOT worth hundreds of dollars?

P.S.: I've already told him that my RAM is 1/20th the price and actually faster, but he still doesn't believe me.

Tell him.. move on... may be he knows but is just trying save face.. leave him to it and don't embarrass him.

This ia an old, old model, these came out around 2009 and were ahigh priced item at release. But that was many many moons ago. It's not all that unusual, when they bring out something new and high end - i.e. take a look at the TridentX 2400 4x8GB DRAM, today they go for $200, - when they were released they were about $900. My 2800 TRi X set went for over 1K when I got them - less than $300 today.
