Ive never built a pc before so some input would be greatly appreciated! :bounce:
ive done some research and some forum peaking and ive come up with this build.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/CwdR23

I plan to use the pc for gaming , Some Music production and recording , and some video editing.

My question : is the build i made compatible with each other? and can i fit it all into a mid ATX or do i have to/ should i put it into a full ATX case?

also is that little $30 212 evo fan i picked going to be good enough to cool everything in the build?
Ive noticed people have 2 fans inside their builld , one of them being a "case fan". Do i need 2 fans, the cooler master 212 evo and a "case fan"?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! Like i said i am very new to this so any help from experienced users would be awesome!! :)

Everything is compatible, it will fit in a mid-tower no problems, full towers are for 4way crossfire and such. Generally pure gaming i woul recommend something slightly diffeerent but since you will be doing editing and stuff thee i7 is a goo choice. Don't underestimate the evo 212, one ofthe best fans, can even hhandle solid overclocks. Case fans are a cool stuff but generally needed only when overclocking also most cases come with case fans so just get one which comes with fans.

First of all, you forgot to pick a case. If you want any airflow, you are going to need more than 2 fans :)
Perhaps at least 4 including your CPU cooler.
At this price point, consider an EVGA G2 PSU, they are more reliable (don't cheap out on your PSU)
If you want do more aggressive OC's, consider a better CPU cooler as well. Otherwise, nice build :)

case fan are there to blow out hot air out of the case and pull cold air in. most of the newer gaming cases now have open tops to let heat out and users to put seal rads on top of the case. good cases will come with two fans one front fan to pull air in the other fan on the back to blow air out. if your going to push the newer cpu then look for a higher end 60.00 air cooler or a 120/250mm rad sealed water cooler. the newer intel cpu the center of the cpu now are the hot spot as the new chips are so small also the newer skylakes are made thinner then haswell a lot of vendors have had to make new coolers becuase people were snapping there cpu chips in 1/2 do to the 50 pound force limit on the cpu chip. toms hardware did a 3 part story on the issue. when you buy mb and gpu look at the mb and see how mny slots the gpu will cover. if the gpu covers to many slots you may not be able to add wifi or sound card. if the gpu covers all the small pci slots. also look on the mb for 3 party slots like m2 or sata are they going to be blocked from a large gpu. if you have a local micro center or pc partds store that has the mb your looking at see if a large gpu will cover anything.

So i found a case i think will be perfect for my first go round and for this build.
I also changed The Mobo i had from the msi Z170a m5 to the asus z170a stritcly for the cosmetics , I like the white color scheme better its also like 20 bucks cheaper. Would anyone object to getting the asus mobo over the msi ?

Don't bump the thread like that.

I would use a different psu,the NEX from EVGA isn't their best line.Small changes to the ram and psu,

If it's within budget woukd this psu be a very good choice,

"bumping" the thread is repeating yourself to get in front of the line or just use the word "bump".Didn't know that about being new, didn't check and for some info,if you want to add something to a post and no one has replied yet use the "Update this" button in that post. ;)

The only real difference between boards is the audio chip used which should be just abit better on the MSI board.I would use a cheaper motherboard,
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xgaming3%2Cgigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xpsli%2Cgigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xud3%2Cgigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xud5/
all gigabyte, just because it happens to be good in each price bracket, not because i dislike the other brands.

I don't think you need the WD black, the seagate should do fine as a storage drive, saves quite abit of money. For the difference in price could you get a 120gb ssd just for the operating system+programs and use the 500gb ssd drive for games and/or other dedicated purposes.

I'd rather use different ram as wel, something like these,
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/compare/corsair-memory-cmk16gx4m2a2400c14r%2Cgskill-memory-f42400c15d16gnt%2Cgskill-memory-f42400c15d16gvr%2Cgskill-memory-f43000c15d16gvr/
in whatever color that fits the build.Don't worry about the "NT line heaving no heatspreader, with the low voltage these need will they not get that hot,it's mainly for decorative purposes.

sweet thx for explaining that. im honestly going with the mobo and those ram sticks because the functions that i need r there and i like the cosmetics. and i had originally chosen an 80$ 3Tb seagate but sumone recommend i spend the extra cash and get the WD haha. I plan on overclocking my i7 6700k what cpu cooler would u recommend ?
