Sorry if this is in the wrong category, but i didnt know where else to put it.

So, basically, my PC will randomly just lock up, Lights still on, computer still running, but everything has frozen. There is no blue screen or crash, just a frozen picture of whatever i was doing.

This does not happen with certain tasks or programs, i have had stress tests running for 2+ hours and it never happens, then watching a video on youtube it freezes. I have no control over mouse or keyboard, and the only solution is a hard reset.

I do have an overclocked CPU, however i did reset everything back to default, and it still happened. So, since the overclock wasnt the issue, i decided to reinstall my OS (upgrading to 10) and its still happening.

I have ran several anti virus programs, and i have no viruses.

The only possible solution that i have left to draw, is that it is hardware related, but before i go out and spend a ton of money rebuilding and diagnosing different parts of my system, i was hoping i could get some input about what you think it may be.

Thanks guys

Solution
Run a memory test. Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Memory Test. It might be smart to also run a hard disk drive scan. Seagate has software you can download for that.

Turkey3_scratch: I just ran a memory diagnostics test, no errors were found, but thank you for your suggestion.

Paul NZ: I only used one at a time, i uninstalled each one before installing the next, but thank you
