When I start my computer, a number 9C appears in the bottom left hand corner. Then after a while, it changes to 92. Then the MSI *click delete for bios* screen appears before loading windows. My computer does not have a disk drive and I couldn't install the disk driver, so I didn't install any drivers for it. I am wondering if this is the problem. I have a MSI z97 pc mate motherboard BTW. Thanks

Latest BIOS was v4.A if you haven't checked yet. You can check a few ways including CPU-Z software.

Your motherboard manual can also tell you how to flash the BIOS. Download if no hard copy.

I saw people mention code 9C occurred if they moved certain USB devices around, but I'm not sure what's going on exactly. There is a BIOS release that mentions keyboard compatibility (v4.5) but it doesn't really explain that, nor do I see anything else related to USB but regardless for now you should:

1) flash the BIOS to latest, and

2) Hook ONLY the keyboard up to test bootup (use recommended spot from manual). If no error, add the mouse.

If you can get to your motherboard manufacturer website and download the new bios to a USB all you have to do is enter the bios and there will be an option to flash it with the file from your USB drive. Try swapping your USB devices to different ports.
