Get another 780 for sli or get a 980 ti for 1440p

a local store has a gtx 780, used condition for £180, my question is whether this would be better value to run with my current 780 in sli, and overclock both of them to run games at 1440p compared to buying a brand new 980 ti for 3 times as much.

I need more information, what games do you plan on playing? PSU? Does your case have enough airflow? How much is the cheapest 980ti in your area?

Totally go for the gtx 980ti. sli gtx 780's will not do you any good at that resolution even when overclocking. keplers are just struggling in this generation and i think it has come to an end. meanwhile the gtx 980 ti is more powerful and newer architecture which means it will be supported for future games to come plus it will handle 1440p like butter.

I have a 780 and my thinking is to get a 980Ti. At 1080p I have already found 3 games which I have to tweak the setting to stop hitting 3gb VRAM. As sli doesnt stack VRAM (dx12 way off being mainstream) sli 780's seems like a lot of horsepower limited by a small amount of vram. At 1440p the problem will be worse.

Modern games, such as the witcher 3, gta v, farcry 4, doom 4 (when its out) and fallout 4 to name the most demanding.
As for psu i have a 1000w corsair rm series psu that runs a 4690k also (not oc yet)
Case is an NZXT switch 810, excluding cpu fans, i have 8 case fans in every available slot.
My town is a dead zone for computer components, only place is pc world and they are really overpriced. cheapest i see 980 ti's for are online and they come in at about £530 at least. So i could easily save £350.

Well, your PSU seems to support it, and seeing as to how much the 980ti is over your budget, i'd go with the sli option, the games you're playing, will certainly support it. But in any way if you can afford the 980ti, i would definitely recommend getting it over the SLI, but you seem to have no option for now?
