Hi
I'm planning on getting Intel core i5 4690k and MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 4GB (do these even fit together)?

So which motherboard should i get for gaming? My budget is around 100$

Solution
Hi.

Yes, the parts will work together.

The i5 4690 K is an unlocked chip so you can and should overclock it at least a bit. To do that you need a motherboard that will do the business. In your budget, at the moment, that would be an ASRock Z97M Pro4. It's not the greatest overclocker, but with a $35 CRYORIG H7 cooler we have easily gotten to 4.2Ghz at school (although I know the chip will go to 4.8Ghz)

If you have no interest in overclocking, you can get a cheaper motherboard, and I would suggest getting a different CPU too, either an i5 4590, or a Xeon 1231v3.

If you spend $60 more, $120 on a motherboard, and $40 on a cooler, you can get close to the limits of that chip. I got to 4.7Ghz. 4.8Ghz needed an even better cooler.

Alright, I'm totally new and plan on getting the same cpu, since you seem pretty experienced I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about what fits and what I should buy.

I probably will overclock and am willing to spend about 120-140$ on a mother board. But when choosing my parts do I choose the cooling before cpu or mother board? And what should I be spending the most $ on?

I know it's a lot to ask but I'm really need help
