Hi and thanks for helping!

So, I have an Acer notebook with a faulty HD, I wanted to reinstall the system into another drive but the serial key provided in the sticker on the bottom of the notebook simply isn't a Windows ordinary key. I do have a Windows 8 boot CD but, I can't figure out how to use this Acer S/N to reinstall my windows.

Is there any special boot CD from Acer or something like that? The recovery partition (Alt+F10) also don't work since the HD is damaged.

Thanks for answering, I've tried to install the Windows 8, but nothing extraordinary happens during the installation process, I always get stuck in the "input serial number" screen. Is there a way to check this serial by entering the BIOS?

You should be able to skip that portion of the install. When you activate Win 8, the system will pick up the product key from the UEFI/BIOS. Make sure the media you are using to install Win 8 matches the version of Win 8 that shipped with the Acer.

I will try it out but, I don't think I can skip it. I have a Windows 8.1 Boot CD but I suspect the notebook came with Windows 8.

EDIT:
As I feared, there is no way to skip the S/N with this Win 8 boot CD:
