I just got the M.2 SSD 950 Pro installed to my system then using ghost image to clone the old ssd drive to the new m.2 ssd drive. Everything work as it should but only one problem the speed read/write is not close to the M.2 spec said at all.
On specs, the samsung 950Pro is 2500 read and 1500 write. I did 3 different ssd bechmark software test and all I got number came out are similar to 750read and 745write. What do I missing here? maybe the MaximusVII hero mobo is can only support the M.2 slot up to 750mb speed?
can anyone point out what is bottle neck on my system?

My rig specs:
i7 4790K + Corsair H100i cooling
Asus Maximus VII hero z97
Samsung M.2 950 Pro
Seagate 2T 7200RPM as torage
Corsair DRR3 dominator PC2400 8 x2
Radeon R9 390 VGA
EVGA 750watt PSU

here is spec of the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD

Solution
As long as you are happy with the current performance of your system, I wouldn't recommend upgrading just to get better drive performance. The 950 Pro is still the fastest M.2 drive you can get even when on the Z97 chipset.

If you were going to upgrade the rest anyway, then yes a Z170 board and a 6700K CPU would be the best choice. Remember that you would also need DDR4 RAM.

-The Samsung 950 Pro supports PCI Express® Gen 3 x 4 lanes (4*1000=4000MB/s)
-The M2 port on the Asus Maximus VII hero is PCI Express® Gen 2 x 2 lanes(2*500=1000MB/s), this is why the Samsung 950 Pro can't reach the maximum spec on this motherboard.

I see, I have tried the m.2 port on the mobo and also got me a pcie adapter to plugin the pcie port but the testing result speed came out verymuch same for both ports. I may have to upgrade my system in order to utilize the Samsung pro 950ssd speed.
in fact, I just order the asus mobo and i7 6700K from newegg
thanks guy
