So I have an i5 that has a base clock of 3.4ghz, not overclocked, that's running at 3.7ghz showed in Msi Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. What is happening.
That's called Turbo Boost. Your CPU is designed to overclock itself slightly when somewhat loaded. It's working as intended -- Intel CPUs have been doing this for years.
Though it puzzles me that your CPU is running at 3.4GHz stock -- it's supposed to be 3.5GHz.
