Upgrading cpu from FX-4100 to FX-8350

As the the title says im upgrading from the 4100 to the 8350. My motherboard is an ASUS M5A97. Im on windows 7 and I was wondering if i need to update the bios or simply just swap them out? Thanks for the help

No you dont. But updating BIOS is always a good thing. No need to reinstall windows!

If you have a compatible BIOS for the 8350 , just swap and boot , no OS reinstall needed.

According to asus website the correct bios is 1605 and i have 0705. So im guessing i need to

Also do install the bios before or after cpu install

Best to update the BIOS first , so that it's fully compatible.
