Hey everyone, I'm running Windows 10 and randomly I decided to right click my network on the task bar and run the trouble shoot problems and it came back with an error that says "windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings". I recenlty changed my router from the comcast issued one to the Asus RT AC66U, I don't know if something in the setting has to be configured or what. I'm still using the comcast Router/modem but only as a modem until I can afford a decent modem then I'm getting rid of it. Could anyone help me with this issue? I know I'm also having an issue with an Xbox 360 not connecting to the 2.4Ghz band but it can connect to my guest wifi connection. Thank you.

Solution
You dont really have to add anything to the router for an Xbox to work.

I used to add it to DMZ on my old router. On the new one. I didnt bother. It works fine

DMZ allows whatever to get access on all ports. So it's open

How far is the Xbox from the modem? Is the wireless secure? is it on something else apart from WEP?

That error maybe an Xbox live error. So, until MS fix it you wont be able to log in

Changing the proxy to none didn't help. My web browser I'm not having an issue with, I'm just wondering why I'm getting that error when I troubleshoot the connection. Now as far as this issue I'm having with the 360, and today I also realized I cannot sign into the Xbox app on my PC as well, it acts like it logs me in then I click let's play and get an error saying it can't sign me in right now error 0xbba. According to Asus this is what they sent me as far as getting the 360 to connect to the 2.4Ghz connection,

1. Open Internet Browser and type Default Gateway of your computer : 192.168.1.1 to open your router page.

2. By default, the login username and password for your wireless router is admin

3. From the navigation panel, go to Advanced Settings > WAN > Virtual server/port forwarding >

4. Enable port forwarding > Yes.

5. Select the server list and game list > then Add the settings > Apply settings.

6. If the port is not opened, Please select DMZ > enable DMZ and input the IP Address of Exposed Station.

I'm lost after step 5, I'm not sure which server I choose under the server list, game list I'm assuming it's Xbox.
The DMZ, I'm not even sure what that is. Sorry I've been learning by messing with this new router.
