I turned my computer on this morning and it booted up normally but about 30 seconds after I log in the cpu led on my motherboard comes on and the computer instantly shuts off. After I try turning it on again it starts to boot like normal but as soon as the cpu light comes on it instants turns off. The longer I wait between trying to start it the further in the boot I can get. I was able to get into the bios and reset the cpu clock speed. I tried a second older power supply and it has the same issues. The BIOS is up to date as well as all drivers. I have absolutely no idea whats causing it to do this.
I bought my current PSU in December 2014 along with my current CPU cooler. The newest addition is the GTX 970 which I bought December 2015 and everything else is from March 2013.

Current Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8120 3.1ghz (formerly 3.9)
Motherboard: ASUS Sabretooth AM3+ Gen 2.0
RAM: 16gb (2x8gb) GSKILL Sniper 1866 (currently running at 1333)
Graphics Card: Zotac GTX970
Powersupply: Rosewill Capstone 750w
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Sedion 120V(liquid cooler)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Solution
I think your pump may be faulty on your Sedion liquid cooler.
Rodak.

The temp should not rise that much if your just sat in the bios.

In the bios you should have a thermal shutdown temperature setting to do with the Cpu.
If the value is set low then it will be the cause as to why the board powers down quickly.

It may be set at something like 55c and the cause of things.
But if the cpu is reaching that temp set then as I said there maybe something wrong with the water pump of the Sedion.
What did you have the cpu core voltage set to when you had the FX cpu overclocked to 3.9Ghz Rodak?

Turn off the turbo boost feature in the bios and cool and quiet.
Set the cpu core voltage to 1.35v.

Enable Xmp mode in your bios.
And make sure the memory clock is set to 200Mhz.

The temps of the cpu should be much cooler than the 52c to 56c you are seeing in the bios settings of the motherboard.
If the cpu is back at stock frequency.

You should be at about 35c with your Sedion 120 water cooler running.

Check to see if the water block is firmly attached to the cpu.
Also check to see what the pump is running at in Rpm on the water cooler.

Make sure the ram is set to 1.65v

Something is not right with your water cooling loop at 55c while idle in the bios and no overclocking applied to the Fx cpu.

I have a corsair H60 here, and at a core voltage of 1.5v and the FX chip clocked to 3.9Ghz Idel temps sit at in the bios 34c.
With a 120mm rad and fan setup.
So something is wrong Rodak.

I honestly don't remember I had let the bios set everything, I hit optimal and it overclocked everything on its own. I was able to catch the current cpu voltage. it's at 1.4v and 2089rpm on the fan speed, it climbs to the temps within 15-20 seconds. I'm unable to change anything in the bios my computer isn't staying on long enough, I had barely enough time to hit return to default settings and confirm when I reset the clock speed. Cooler is down nice and firm.

Yeah you're probably right. I just tried it again and it hit 60 very quickly before shutting off, I'm going to swap in the little stock cooler and see what happens

You could try resetting the BIOS. The best way is shorting out the BIOS reset jumper on the motherboard.
From there, you'll have your settings at scratch. I agree you shouldn't be seeing those temps just idling in
the BIOS screen, so your water cooler/CPU cooling and/or voltage setting is still questionable.

Sure enough it was the water cooler. I put on the stock heatsink and fan and its working again no problem. it idles anywhere between 36 and 41 on the desktop while bios idle is 42-46. Voltage is sitting at 1.35 now. Reset the bios but it still auto set it to 1.4. Manually adjusting the RAM settings seems to be impossible right now, any settings other than the auto settings causes bsod but that can wait.. Thanks for the help I probably would have ended up replacing things I didn't have to.
