I recently bought a PNY NVIDIA GTX 950 OC to upgrade from my GT 610. However, after I fired it up for the first time, the thing became really loud. I could hear the fans from all over my house. Why does it do this and how do I fix it?

Update: Turns out that the GPU is not the PNY NVIDIA GTX 950 OC as it appears on the box, but rather it is the PNY NVIDIA GTX 950 XLR8 Series GPU. Not sure if this changes any thing.

Solution
download msi afterburner which is a overclocking utility. there are a bunch of sliders that control the clocks and power of your gpu one of them being fan speed(the one at the very bottom) Dont touch the other sliders for now untill you know enough about overclocking but see what that fan speed is set at and make sure it is on auto.

Figured out the problem. First off, I had misdiagnosed the source of the sound. It was actually my CPU fan making the noise. A wire that was for the rear fan was hitting the blades of the CPU fan. Solution: Secure the wire to the side of the case.
