144hz monitor used in conjunction with 60hz monitor causes screen tearing on 60hz monitor

And when I set the 144hz monitor to display at 60hz the screen tearing stops. But I want to use my 144hz, so what's the fix? GPU= GTX 970

So you are gaming on both at the same time? If V-sync or g-sync is on this will definitely not work because the gpu cant have 2 separate refresh rate intervals to keep tabs on. As for those setting off i still dont think it works out like that and getting fps 2x the refresh rate is know to cause tearing
