The CPU is going to be purchased at microcenter ; nothing has been purchased yet
Not overclocking
Also wondering if any extra fans are needed besides stock that comes with h440

Solution
performance>looks. looks=money pit. you can afford a 980 ti and i7 equivalent with that budget. you are only hurting yourself by having a substantially less enjoyable gaming experience. buy a cheap case temporarily until you can afford it. you can always change it. what's $35 bux...

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($83.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($63.99 @ SuperBiiz)...
1)you don't need a z board if you arent overclocking. big waste of money.
2)that cooler comes with thermal paste. remove it from your build.
3)you are spending way too much on the case.
4)you are also spending way too much on the ram.
5)500 GB ssd is overkill. you should be putting the money into a better processor, especially for video editing. downgrade to 256gb.
6)if you'd like to future proof, get an r9 390. 8gb of vram vs the 970's 3.5gb will go a long way.

this is a tad over your budget but worth every penny. save an extra $43.

Yeah the case is definitely expensive but tbh I'm a razer fanboy and have razer everything so I'm just gonna stick with the case for a complete setup.
I've removed the thermal paste and changed to 256 gb ssd but I'm not a micro atx fan.
