System Issues albeit brand new hardware

Hello, I just installed a new chip (i5 6600K), motherboard (Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI), and memory to see if I could fix an issue with my computer not starting successfully (system would power, but no troubleshooting could get it past POST).

Upon booting up for the first time after installing these new hardware, it successfully started. I could get into Windows 7 and install drivers & motherboard drivers, make Windows updates, etc.

But I experienced some issues:
1) System hangups. The system would frequently hang in Windows 7.
2) System sometimes wouldn't restart without replugging of power cord to PSU.
3) System would automatically reboot after shutdown.

Currently, the system is having difficulty starting at all. Even after powering the computer, the system doesn't enter the BIOS, the screen remains blank.

Could this be a PSU issue? Is the motherboard being shorted? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi, first I want to thank you for taking the time to respond. Between now and the time I last posted, I decided to purchase a PSU and replace my current one. Results are satisfactory and I was able to boot my computer successfully. After some, I found all issues to reoccur even with a new PSU. System hangups even occurs in Safe Mode w/ Networking. The only piece of major hardware that I haven't replaced yet is the GPU.

Specs as follows:
Intel Core i5-6600K @ 3.5GHZ (brand new)
16 GB Memory (2x8GB, DDR4 @ 3000MHz) (brand new)
Gigabyte Z179XP-SLI Motherboard (brand new)
Corsair RM850i Power Supply Unit (brand new)
ATI Radeon 4850x2
DVD/CD-RW
Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless-AC USB Adapter
Windows 7 Operating System
Cooler Master HAF 932
100GB SSD
279GB HDD

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

**Update**

I noticed there is an onboard video adapter. I decided to remove my GPU and connect my Display's adapter to the motherboard. System booted up OK, but there are still system hangs (#1). Tried Safe Mode w/o Networking... I could not get the system to repeat hanging no matter what I tried. Could this point to the issue? Or maybe I got lucky and it would have experienced hanging if I tried a bit more? What can I do to diagnose this further?

There is a known issue with some skylake cpus they can freeze under load.

What BIOS is on this? I would update the BIOS to F5 if this isnt on it now. I see the last beta fixes this freezing issue but I would be careful flashing a beta bios. Theyre beta for a reason

BIOS is on F3. I will work to get this updated to F5.

I did post an update to my second reply. It seems to point to the Network Adapter as an issue. Not sure though.

HDD is fairly old, but I would imagine it is still healthy. I did find that my BIOS could use an update to F5 and that maybe the hang-ups have something to do with the network adapter since I couldn't repeat the hangup issue in Safe Mode w/o Networking.

OK. I uninstalled and unplugged the adapter. Still experiencing frequent system hangs of all applications at once. Could this be related to something else? A motherboard short? The OS? Should I just upgrade to Windows 10? I'll try updating the BIOS tomorrow.

Hello again,

Just want to update you guys with my additional troubleshooting steps in trying to narrow the issue.
1) Safe mode with/without networking does indeed cause random hanging issues.
2) I tried booting with only the SSD (not HDD), no improvement
3) I updated the BIOS to F5, no improvement

In conclusion, I've gone completely barebone on my system, using only the essentials: memory, cpu, ssd, and psu. I removed the gpu and am using the onboard video driver. Still every step has eluded me.

My last ideas are:
1) to reseat everything on the motherboard again. Perhaps there's some short? Does this hanging/lagging symptom sound like a short?
2) upgrade OS to Windows 10

What do you guys think? This is starting to worry me.

I'm sorry that's what I mean, I'm using the motherboard's integrated GPU.

I had one more idea to check the CPUs Loads and Temperatures. I monitored this, and all CPUs do range between 15 and 19 C. Seem normal. The CPU loads are also low. Even during system hangs, the load and the temperatures stay low & stable.

Hi all, still experiencing this hanging issue albeit I've reseated everything on the motherboard including heat sink and processor. Not sure what is left for me to try other than buying a new motherboard.

OK folks, finally figured out the issue. I was trying to replace the motherboard without installing a fresh OS. I suppose there is no way of using a previously installed OS on a new MOBO.
