I just got a Gigabyte GA Z97X UD5H BK mobo. I'm running Win 7 64 bit SP1 on an 850 EVO, and have 4 additional HDD's. I've been testing everything out, including the 8 SATA ports - 6 are Intel and 2 are Marvell. I have 5 drives which I'm hooking up under the Intel SATA ports. I hooked drives up to the Marvell ports just to test and they work fine. However, I noticed something that seems odd to me. When a drive is hooked up to the Marvell controlled SATA port it shows up in Windows "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon. Is this normal and configured correctly?

In Device Manager under Disk Drives and IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers it looks like this:

Like I say, I won't be using the port right now, but I want to know if this is set up correctly for future expansion.
Thanks

Thanks, right, Which is why I mentioned in the op that I'm using the 5 Intel ports, but was testing the Marvell. As far as them showing up under the "Safely Remove Harware" when they are used that is correct also?

Edit: FYI performance tests were identical
