While it was on my desktop. Will this cause driver issues for my laptop?

Yes indeed. It's got all the wrong drivers installed on it for your laptop, and the registry contains hardware ID that doesn't match your laptop. You can't use that installation on your laptop whichever way you try to do it.

You have to install Windows on the computer you intend to run it on, you can't subsequently move it to another computer, whether by cloning or any other method.

Thanks for the help. However I don't have a genuine windows installation disc or anything - this pc was built for me by the local tech shop. How will i get to do a fresh windows isntallation on the ssd? (There is a genuine copy of Windows 10 on the 750 gb HDD on the laptop though)

Well that's the one you need to be cloning on to the new SSD then, except you will be struggling because its a 750GB capacity HDD, yet your new 850 Evo SSD will probably be considerably less than that - - right?

The new SSD wil have 250 gb storage. Will it work if i format my hard disk so it has only windows, and then i clone that? What do i need to clone it to ssd then? SATA to usb cable? Can you send me a link to one on amazon.co.uk?
