Intel H and Z series: how much of a performance difference?

This is what I have been thinking the H series of motherboards are always targeted at value conscious buyers while Z series is targeted towards enthusiasts. Iknow Z series has more USB/Sata ports, PCIE slots and PCIE lanes so better suited for multi GPU users.

Now my question is do we see a significant difference if we are plugging the same CPU in both the motherboards, other things constant? If so, how much of a performance increase can be achieved by using Z series above H series?

Solution
There is no difference in the performance of your hardware from Z or H if running at stock speeds. The difference between z170 or H170 is mostly the number of lanes (20 vs 16) and the number of USB 3.0 connections (10 vs 8). If you dont plan to have multiple GPUs or overclock, the H series will be just fine and you will not notice a performance difference in terms of your cpu or GPU

I don't think there will be any significant performance change. The Z series mobos are overclockable and if you overclock your CPU, you can see a performance increase.

But if you don't overclock than they are pretty much the same.
