Okay I'll try to explain this as clear as possible so I can avoid any confusion. I was having CPU throttling issues which I thought may be attributed to overheating, so I went inside my PC to re-seat the processor with fresh thermal paste. Upon restarting my computer (I switched around some of the SATA and power cords) the windows install on my 300gb intel SSD said it was corrupted. After failing to recover it, I performed a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate x64 on the SDD. During the install however, I noticed the SSD was only registering as being 111GB. There were absolutely no other partitions showing up with the exception of the system reserve (100Mb). I went ahead with the install having no other choice, and sure enough when everything is set, windows registering the 300GB SSD as being only 111GB.

Given that I have very little experience in dealing with this specific issue, I was hoping that someone more intelligent than I could help me work through this issue so that I may potentially recovery my missing 200GB. I'll start off with another image that may help:

In the disk defragmenter, there is this suspicious drive present. I have a feeling the previously corrupted installation is somehow hiding the space from view but I'm not sure. I would very much appreciate any help that can be given. Thanks ahead of time and let me know what other information you may need!

Hey there, OrbDamu.

It's difficult to determine what could've happened. First let me start by saying that you should never run defragmentation on an SSD (same goes for Full Format). This could cause issues like that and greatly reduce the drive's life.
As for what to do - I'd suggest that you try the SSD with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. Other than that, check your BIOS/UEFI to see what's the capacity of the SSD there. You should also download an SSD diagnostic tool and test the drive with it, to see if any errors pop-up and what's the situation with the drive.

For future references, you should check out that link with useful tips on how to manage your SSD...

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Sorry for the late reply. It was just under 300Gb before I reformatted (this is probably the 10th time I've formatted it in the 4-5 years I've had it). I would give you the exact drive but the plate attaching it to my tower is covering the specifications. I did recently run a BIOS update which I forgot to mention. I'm going to head in there and see what that says. Thanks for the help.

Hi

It is posible to run manufacture specific software which makes a HDD apear to be smaller than it is.
eg make a 160GB HDD appear to be a 120GB because the BIOS does not support more than 120GB

To find out make & model of SSD run program like Piriform Speccy
You need tools from SSD maanufacturer to diagnose or test the SSD and see if the correct capacity shows up

300GB is a odd size I would expect 240GB/250GB then 480GB/500GB for SSD

Well, I appreciate everyone that helped, but as was rebooting it said my system was corrupted again. I wasn't able to reinstall on the ssd and had to resort to the mechanical HD. I'm almost positive it just completely failed.
