While loading Windows, graphics glitch?

I've found some very old threads on this, but I've not found anything recent. Hoping its -not- what I'm reading, but we'll see.

When I power up my machine, just after the Windows logo & right before Windows launch, I sometimes (not always) get this brief (fractions of a second) screen (usually just a line along the bottom of my screen, never full-screen) of what looks to be static with random lines of color.

New one on me.

All the parts are new, so I'm worried something is on the verge of going bad out of the box.

I've run all kinds of system & graphics tests & everything appears to work fine, for now.

But the screen worries me. Never seen it before...

My current setup:

Asus Maximus Hero VIII
GSkill 3200 Trident 16bg
i5 6600K
Evga 970 GTX FTW+
Evga 750W Gold
Corsair H80i GT Cooler
Samsung EVO 250gb & 500gb SSD

-

Previous to this I was having problems with some firmware updates for the Mobo & was experiencing severe system hangs on shutdown.

I was forced to disable the updates to the Mobo & deactivate several Asus Startup Services. So far -that- seems to have done the trick, but I may consider wiping & installing fresh (again), should that become necessary.

-

And of course, as I'm powering up machine as I'm typing this, I'm getting an error on Windows Update:

"Failure Converting Windows Update. Reverting Changes."

Man, this is going to be a long day...

Yeah.

I think I really should. It's still undoing its updates. Sigh.

I've never had this much trouble with software. Makes me cry.

Oh well, I'll wait until it's wrapped up. Hopefully I can get to it before work, if not... Guess I know what I'm doing tonight...

I'm honestly hoping that glitch screen is just conflict software or Windows error or something.

I read, in posts older than 3-4 years, that it's possibly the sign of a graphics card about to pop. I hope not :(

Yeah, if I do the clean install & it does it, totally will!

I went and did a clean install.

Only had one hiccup with a USB 3.0 driver update that failed (turned off my USB ports in doing so :( ). Got that fixed.

So far, everything appears stable.

No graphic glitches. Network connects almost instantly after Windows loads. No stalls on startup or shutdown.

I went & ran a Benchmark on Valley. As I recall my score was approximately 4000 on Ultra Settings for a single-wide screen. I've never used that tool before, so I'm unclear as to what's good & what isn't. But a quick Google search tells me it's pretty good considering my set up, so I'll take it?

No further problems at this time?
