I'm looking into getting another lga 1155 board because mine just fried. I need some help because I did a little bit of reasearch and say that there are z77 chipssets and b67 and have no clue which one to get. I would like to only spend $150 Canadian, but would spend up to $250.

I have a i5 3570k

Solution
You need a Z77 chipset because you have a -k series overclocking processor.

Something like a MSI Z77A-G45, MSI z77a-gd65, ASUS Sabertooth or one of the various ASUS P8Z77-V series boards would be good. You should be able to get one of these in budget if you search around eBay and liquidation companies. The Z77 chipset is too old to be available through normal retail channels.

Hi.

I have the exact same problem as you and thank you for posting this.

My question is what is the best power supply and cooler for the cpu I can get on a budget?

I have the same processor and will be getting one of the motherboards mentioned.

I plan to get a new video card.

I plan to use the computer for gaming also. Which motherboard mentioned is better for gaming?

Hi

I do not the exact same problem as I have xeon e3-1240 which can't be overclocked. So, I was actually wondering if there is a nice motherboard for around $150 which might be worth upgrading from intel dq67sw motherboard.

Theguyinthefront, I cannot suggest any psu, but I think that cooler master hyper 212 are budget friendly air cpu coolers. Infact I wish to buy one when it's on sale. Currently some seller is selling hyper 212-evo for $14+ shipping(around $6) = $20, but I am not being able to trust that seller,

Can someone please check the link above and tell if the seller can be trusted? I would appreciate any tips to identify fake sellers.

Thanks!

Hi. For a E3-1240, the best bet is a B75 motherboard. You can easily find one of the MSI B75 motherboards on ebay for less than 150$. They are entirely compatible with the E3 series (v1 and v2). I am currently running with a E3-1230v2 on a B75MA-E33 with no issues. Do remember that these boards have only a single SATA3 (6gb/s) port.

Thanks Natsukage. I will try looking for B75 motherboards, with total 5 or more sata ports including about 2 sata3 ports. I am not in a hurry, so I will search around and see what I find. Thanks for helping.
