Hello,

so recently i bought a Z170 Pro Gaming from ASUS and 8GB of 3200mhz Ripjaws. I installed everything just normally and then ran Fire Strike to benchmark the overall system. The problem that occured was that my RAM frequency was shown as 2x 4096MB @ 6400mhz.

So when i check on CPUID it does tell me my frequency is 3200. But since its DDR this number should be doubled right? So is my actual frequency now really at 6400 mhz? Im totally confused, the system was totally stable but im running my RAM at 1600mhz BIOS settings now just to make sure i wont destroy any parts.

I hope someone here can tell me what my actual frequencies are now and wether i can put it back up to 3200mhz or keep it at 1600mhz.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: The guy in this video uses the same mobo and cpu as me and puts his RAM frequency to the 2666mhz he actually bought. I did the very same thing, in the end programs told me my RAM was @6400. Is this guy doing the same mistake?

I will do that thanks for your quick answers. So its totally fine when CPUID shows me actual -> Memory -> Timings -> DRAM Frequency = 3200 MHz?

This is what it looks like with BIOS settings @ 1600 MHz

Yes it is fine. It is just a reporting bug. Most motherboards only report the base clock of the Ram (on DDR it is half the rated speed) so CPU-z doubles it, my guess it your motherboard reports the actual speed not the base clock and cpu-z is automatically doubling it still causing it to report a speed twice the acutal. OR it was just a random Bug caused by any number of things..

Ive set it back to 3200MHz, the CPUID version is a ASUS one so i was hoping it would actually work properly together with the mobo it came with.

This is what it looks like now:

Thanks for the help
