Switching from AMD to INTEL; LGA 1155 worth it?

I've been thinking about upgrading my gaming PC to intel, from AMD. My friend is also selling me a computer for $300 which includes an ok-motherboard, but it comes with an i7-3770. I know the 3770 line uses the LGA 1155 socket type, but every other newer intel processor requires an LGA 1150 type.

Would it be worth it to upgrade from my FX8350 to the I7-3770, even if it uses an old socket type? It seems that any time I upgrade processors down the line then, I would have to upgrade motherboards once more.

Solution
For $300 bucks that's a perfectly fine system to ride out until Kaby Lake comes out. The Skylake chips just barely make it worth jumping off the higher end LGA1155 stuff. I guess the question is that $300 hard for you to save up. If so it might be worth more to keep saving and wait to pick up something from the Haswell line or higher.

Also yes Intel is currently on LGA 1151 for Skylake and presumably Kaby Lake as well. LGA 1150 was for Haswell and the mostly aborted Broadwell chipset.

The 3770 is a very strong motherboard and every generation (almost) requires a new motherboard so you would have to upgrade the motherboard next time you upgrade even if you get an 1151 CPU/Mobo. The 3770 is definitely worth the upgrade, what else comes in this system?

not sure on the MoBo model, but it comes with a 1tb hdd, 32gb SSD, radeon 7770 (will be replaced with my GTX), 12GB ram, dvd burner and wifi built in. I know it's a good price for the system, but was wondering if it's a good investment in the long run. I'm unfamiliar with the Intel line and if it's worth essentially upgrading to an already-outdated socket type.

At best, it's a side-ways upgrade that costs you $300.

In a handful of games you might see an increase in frames, but it's a gain you will not realize in the 'real world' because the frame rates with the FX-8350 -even before over-clocking- will already be quite high.
