There is gold plated HDMI cables and the casing is gold and there is HDMI cable where the casing is not gold but the pins still look gold on the inside if you shine a light and look at them, so are all HDMI cable gold plated at least the pins?
Well yeah but the quality of the cable could still be bad, also the gold doesn't corrode I have a PS4 and wanted to match the cable with the ports of the PS4 if PS4 has gold plated ports I was going to get gold plated cables but it looks like all hdmi cables have gold plated pins.
Half the time the gold colour you see is copper whichbis nearly as conductive as gold anyway - why do you think its used for ALL electrical cabling ;-)
Corrosion is a non-entity with any electrical cable/av cable , if its damp or wet enough to cause corrosion to even copper you have bigger things to worry about
Only the connection need to be gold, not the entire thing, that's just to make it look pretty, same thing with 3.5mm (1/8") cables for instance.
Yeah but some the casing isn't gold looking but the pins have a gold look, some cables dont say gold plated but there is still a gold color, I dont know I just want to match the two materials gold plated ports with gold plated cables etc. I can't really find if ports are gold plated lan ports and hdmi ports.

I don"t know I was told that copper isn't used on hdmi cable pins it's either nickle or gold or gold plated copper.
Only the connections are gold, the rest is not gold but is nickel painted gold. As far as corrosion, that's incorrect and a huge myth floating around. If all you do is use a HDMI between say a monitor and PC, it can't corrode, if you use it in a stormy weather, sure.

That's what I was thinking that the pins are mostly always gold plated even if the cable package doesn't say gold plated but the pins still have a gold color, but now you would want the hdmi ports to be gold plated to because isn't that why you have gold cables? Why would you have gold cables if your ports aren't gold.
Now I have to find if my hdmi ports are gold plated if not then I wont get a gold plated cable. I can't really find anything on this about gold plated hdmi ports and gold plated lan ports.
You're over thinking this hugely mate , gold plating makes literally NO difference , ultimately the quality of the actual cable itself is what determines how good it is.
Gold plate is used because it offers less electrical resistance than nickel & it looks nice - what you want is a decently thick cable with as thick as possible multistrand copper cabling inside.
However to most people a cheap cable works as well as an expensive one on runs less than 3m or so.

I know it doesn't really matter, I know if I got a nickle plated hdmi cable it probably wouldn't corrode I just wanted to match the two, hdmi port to hdmi cable and I saw that most hdmi cables have a gold color on the pins so thats probably gold as I don't think they use copper or brass on the hdmi cable pins.
I noticed that the hdmi port I am looking at has what looks like gold pins probably is.
So ill probably get a gold plated cable all hdmi cables look gold plated anyway probably are.
