Is my power supply going to be enough to run my new system? Specs as follows: msi radeon r9 390, fx8350 @4.0GHz, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz RAM (I realize the mobo will bottleneck my ram a bit), my mobo is MSI 970GAMING (I don't plan on overclocking much at all). The power supply is Sentey Xplus Power Supply 725 Watt (XPP725-HS). Thanks in advanced :)

Solution

Hi - Actually a good 725w PSU would be more than sufficient for that rig. However, the Sentey you list cannot be
considered good. It is OEM'd by Sinyang electronics. I have yet to see a PSU from this mfg with a review, much lees a good
review. Your internal components are too valuable to risk with it.

Okay, I'm definitely going to reconsider and immediately turn off my pc and purchase a better quality one if I get a single problem out of it to prevent any hardware problems. Could you refer me to one you KNOW will suffice for around $75?

Hi - Any of these three would be good choices (recommended the 850w model because of price/value)

I'd lean towards the 2nd one, the EVGA GS650

Solution

No - a bronze rated PSU is not more efficient than a gold rated PSU. He's much better off
with a modular gold unit than a non modular bronze unit.

I already went ahead and got a fully modular gold 750w evga unit. I have some experience with hardware (thanks to my dad teaching me when I was in highschool) but I had never looked into all the specs of PSU's before. The budget wasn't that big of a deal on this build, I just wasn't informed enough to know there was THAT big of a difference in the brands as far as quality went.

Hi - yeah, big diff in quality. Even within the same brands there are sometimes huge differences. It pays
to do some research ahead of time, which apparently you did, congrats.

I'm on this site because i didn't! Was lucky & found out my error before any damage was done.

What research? The XFX unit is cheap, and is made by SeaSonic, which is one of the best PSU makers today. The platform the XFX one is based on easily passed Bronze. And the XFX only cost $52. Undoubtedly Gold is better than Bronze. But you could save $10+ by going with a Bronze unit that performs quite fine. Not to mention that h FSP-based NEXG isn't too far off from the XFX Core Pro in performance. Toyftw, what are you talking about, do my research? You haven't done yours.

And if OP bought an EVGA unit already, no objections. Oh well. You didn't need to pay much more anyways.
