I get a D3D Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED & "NVidia Driver Kernel has stopped working ... and has recovered." error every time I play ArmA III now, I have just installed a new motherboard and intel chip and re-installed windows, and for the first few days it was running perfectly. Then, after launching Grand Theft Auto V and not getting further than the prologue, it crashed with the Nvidia Driver Error.

This has totally caught me off-guard due to the fact that I have been streaming to Twitch just fine the past week, however now it seems like an impossible task due to constant crashing.

Now currently my ArmA will crash every 5-120 minutes, randomly. There is nothing seemingly triggering it other than just playing the game.

I have attached my DxDiag here:

Solution
What are your system specs, especially power supply and video card? If you can, test the video card in another system. Another test I like to do is use a spare hard drive and install a clean version of Windows on it with clean drivers and game setup, that way you can test if it's a software issue or hardware and not have to mess with your setup if it turns out to be hardware.

Addition: I suspect that it is strictly DirectX at fault, and that when I installed the Pre-Requisites for Grand Theft Auto 5, it must've installed a direct x driver now causing conflicts.
How do I get about fixing this? Because everything ran PERFECTLY before I launched GTA once and it crashed with that error.

I've been playing other games with zero issues, I did have a random "Nvidia driver has stopped working ... and has recovered" once whilst idling.

This is a DX error i have the same error but have not fixed it. This happens to me in bf4 and arma 3 but everything else is fine. i have reinstalled the games and my drivers which leads me to believe it a direct x error i will try to install dx 10. it might be for me bf4 installed a too newer version of direct x than my arma 3 could handle and fucked everything up

UPDATE: just tried downgrading to direct x 10 and it did nothing. i think i my destroy my pc this is so fustrating

Solution:
1. Download + Install MSI Afterburner
2. Set Core Clock (MHz) to -92
3. Hit apply + save as Profile 1
4. Go to Settings -> General properties
5. Mark "Start with Windows" and "Start minimized"
6. Do NOT close Afterburner with X, just minimize
7. profit

Hey finwefeanor,
well that problem seems mostly to occur on games which have trouble with OC'd graphics cards, i guess.
This solution helped me to get rid of that annoying error back in the day, when i was using my EVGA GTX760 SC ACX.

Just give it a try, although I cannot guarantee that it might work on for rig.

You might also try do disable any sort of auto OC or boosts your GPU might offer.

Good luck.
