Hi.

I have a strange issue with my system. I have RV509-A0GIN laptop. Initialy the pc came with 2GB so i upgraded my ram by buying 4+4GB Rams.

I tried to reinstall windows 7 32bit from USB but it start to restart when installing. so i installed windows 7 using old 2GB ram. After Installing i updated the graphics drivers and all other drivers as per the suggestion provided in some forum and it then accepted 8GB ram (3.49GB usable).

Now i tried installing windows 764bit using new ram. Same Reboot while installing. So i used the Old Ram like before and installed 7 64bit. But in windows 7 64bit even though i updated all the drivers still it gives me BSOD if i change to new ram. I tried switching the rams and slots. But it boots only with 2GB. But i am pretty sure the new ram is a good one as it has no issues with other OS.

Any suggestions / answers are highly appreciated.

PS: I even tried modifying BCDEdit with nolowmem, nx, pae but still it didnt work.

Have you made sure your BIOS is up to date? Can you please pass on the new kits specs(sticker specs or a link from purchase site or an image of its package)? It looks like your system was shipped with 1066MHz of DDR3 ram and since this is a laptop based on the first generation core i3 processors the ram kit should essentially be 1.65v to operate. If you can get into BIOS see if the new kit is detected. I'd also recommend that you run memtest86 for 10 passes and if any errors come up then they are faulty.

3 things to keep in mind while shopping for ram, 1066MHz, 1.65v, 2x4GB [strike](I doubt that last number since I can't find the maximum ram upgrade option)[/strike] - link here.

I'd also suggest contacting a friend who owns a laptop with a similar 2x XGB kit so you can use in your laptop rams on his system to see if it works and vice versa(i.e you run his rams on your laptop). Where are you sourcing your Windows 7 ISO's?

Hi,

thanks for the help. i would like to update more on this. Here are the below things which i have done.

1. I have already updated the BIOS to the latest version.
2. The new two 4GB rams which i have is of 1.35v and 1.5 volts.
3. My old 2GB ram runs on 1.5 volts as it is mentioned on the sticker on Ram.
4. So, what i believe is, atleast one of the new Ram which i bought for 1.5 Volts should work if voltage is an issue, but it didnt with the 64 bit OS, however both runs successfully on 32 Bit Windows after updating graphics drivers.
5. Yes my Ram is shipped with 1066 MHz and the new one with the 1.5volt is the same speed.
6. BIOS doesnot have any issue in detecting those rams. Those rams are detected perfectly in BIOS
7. I have already ran memtest for a whole night. but it didnt through up any errors with the new ram.
8. I tried different ISO from different sources and even from Legit CDs to check if it installs, but they all end up the same.

Any help ??
