I'm about to buy a GTX980TI, but today I relize that a new lineup (Pascal and Polaris) is in his way. Now I'm with a GTX 670 and I'm really upset from the performance after only 3 years. I'm really want the GTX980TI, and I promise myself I'll continue play some heavy game only when I buy a new PC. Now I don't know what to do, because the new lineup is about to release in mid-2016 - a long time. So - buy a new gtx980ti or wait for Pascal/Polaris?
Actually, if they'll be more expensive then the GTX980TI, so I won't have the budget. And i'll wait only if the performance difference worth it. What to do?

this way of thinking really help me. but still, it won't be better to wait so the GTX 980 TI will be much cheaper?

You could wait until the new lineups are released, but then the prices still may not come down by much.....they still want to be able to make money from the remaining cards they've produced, and are on the market. This is why I said that you could always be waiting. Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and buy a card....just make sure its gonna last. Look at things like the Warranty on it....read reviews on overclocking potential, and also troubleshooting forums for known issues with them...such as overheating, failing VRAM modules, or coil whine issues with individual brands. This will help you decide on...
Just buy the 980 Ti. Better stuff always comes out for PC, it's doubtful Pascal and Polaris will have THAT much better performance. In any event the 980 Ti will not become inadequate for a loooong time.

(Side note: unless you want nVidia-specific features I'd suggest a Fury X instead as AMD GPUs are expected to get higher performance with DX12)

I can't quote your messages with my phone.
I'm actually running w/ GTX 670 Dying light on low-med, ACS on low, and I'm really want to start TW3 but I'm afraid I won't get 60FPS with good graphic experience. I actually planned to buy a new PC this week, then I saw that the new cards are only some month from us... The waiting will be hard because my GTX 670 isn't serve me with a good graphic experience - what's really important in some games, at least for me.

Yeah I saw that Nvidia cards w/ DX12 will experience downgrade in performance, while AMD cards will show much better performance. I always like Nvidia much more then AMD, actually never used an AMD card, but I think it's very important to wait for the new lineup as well as wait for Hitman or another heavy game that'll use DX 12 and see who's better.

If you wait, you will always be waiting. There are new cards released every year (rebrands) and there are only new architecture releases every 2-3 years. The best way to look at it is: "I'm I buying a card that will last me for around 3-4 years? Will I get my moneys worth from it?"

It comes down to money. New architecture releases are evidently more expensive than the last flagships, so you have to ask yourself.. are you willing to wait spend more on the latest unproven release, when you could save some money on the last proven release and still be happy with it?

If i'll buy right now the GTX970, let's say, first of all i think there is a big differents in performence even for 1080P users. in addition, I don't think I'll have a money to new PC some 3 years from now... it'll be better to buy the GTX980TI and let him serve you for some 4-5 years, or even more.

My advice is: Wait until the Winter sales time at least...around the time of the "Black Friday/Cyber Monday" online sales. The last few GPUs I've bought have been a lot cheaper during this time. eg. I recently got an MSI 390X 8G for £285 delivered! That's less than the 390 4G cards. It's great.

Decide on a particular brand, and either wait until you see it in sales, or just buy it now. The 980Ti is going to be around for a while yet with it's 6gb VRAM to see it through the next few years. The new lineup are going to be Flagship cards, and very expensive and geared towards VR setups initially. You will be waiting even longer before mid range lineups are released that are comparable to a 980Ti price.

I live in Israel so it would be better to wait until Passover sales (April). either wait for sales or for the new cards will be the same. I planned to buy in February actuallty. The current price is pretty affordable, with some deals on rams, power supply. though the 980TI and an i7 6700K still pretty expensive. i'll think about it, thank you,
