Mornin,
I am trying to get my computer to do a better job of encoding video, I am working with Adobe Premier Pro, I have done a decent amount of research and found that upgrading my CPU will help this greatly.

Using the program Speccy this is what is listed as my computer specs:
Operating System
Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit
CPU (watercooled)
AMD FX-6200 25 °C
Zambezi 32nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
Gigabyte 2AC8 (CPU 1) 48 °C
Graphics
V233H (1920x1080@60Hz)
DELL SE198WFP (1440x900@60Hz)
2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series (Unknown) 43 °C
Storage
1397GB Seagate ST1500DM 003-9YN16G SATA Disk Device (SATA) 41 °C
223GB TOSHIBA MKNSSDEC 240GB SATA Disk Device (SSD) 34 °C
931GB Seagate BUP Slim BK USB Device (USB (SATA)) 35 °C

Now I am trying to upgrade my CPU and I would like to get the FX-8350 8-core to replace the FX-6200. But I am having a hard time figuring out if that would be compatible.
Further searches indicate that the motherboard might be named (M3970AM-HP) and according to the HP site it can support up to FX-8510. Is this as far as I can go? Is it worth getting a new motherboard?
First time posting... so i apologize if what I need is unclear.
Thanks for your time

Brand name computers are notoriously bad and difficult to upgrade. According to: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03117539 it has a 970 chipset and should be compatible with all FX processors. It also supports 125Watt processors so only a BIOS update may be needed. FX x1xx processors haveBulldozer/Zambezi cores while x3xx processors have later, Vishera cores which may require different BIOS version.
Maybe you should go to: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers let it identify your MB and see if there is a BIOS update for 83xx processor to work on it.

Thanks for your response!
As far as running the drivers through the support for hp, it comes up with nothing.
I have discoverd through further investigation that it is this mobo:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03353629
and should support the FX-350... at least i think..
I went ahead and bought it... maybe not the best idea. I installed it and the computer is running... but seems to be slower then before..
what did i do wrong?

I think the main issues is that this isn't a "HP" computer it is an HP motherboard but thats about it. I bought it refurbished off of WOOT!... Perhaps I should just change the MOBO?

Thanks again for responding @CountMike.
I'm a bit unsure how to check my frequency of my processor, or how to check if all the 8 cores are functioning, is this what your looking for?
When I open my task manager the CPU says the maximum speed is 4.00GHz.
And the cores are 4.

I didn't reset my BIOS.
