How do I plug a VGA monitor into a GPU without VGA port ?

I have an R7 260X and it doesn't have a VGA port and I have an extra , older monitor, VGA monitor and i would like to use it as a second monitor.

What can I do to convert it . I have seen HDMI to VGA converter (as i only have a a hdmi port left) and its really cheap like £1.6 and some poeple say it works some not , and i also heard that the quality isnt the best.

What other solution could I take into consideration , as i would really like to use the monitor.

The best thing to use to connect a VGA-only monitor to a GPU with no VGA port is to use a DVI-I -> VGA passthrough adapter like this (sometimes graphics cards come with them so check your box): http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-DVI-VGA-Cable-Adapter/dp/B004G3WCLM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453838219&sr=8-1&keywords=DVI-I+to+VGA+adapter

Since you mentioned that you only have a HDMI port available, it would seem that you are already using your DVI port for a different monitor. Instead of connecting that monitor with a DVI cable, you can connect it with a HDMI -> DVI cable like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OZJU0XO?psc=1

Avoid using a HDMI -> VGA converter - they are not reliable. And make sure that the HDMI -> DVI cable you get is long enough for your setup.

depends on the model of the r7 260x as some models have only 1 DVI

Mine has 1 Display port, 1 HDMI , 1 DVI-I

He only needs one DVI if he gets the HDMI -> DVI cable. And uses the DVI-I port with a passthrough adapter. Always avoid using an active adapter and use passthrough adapters/cables whenever possible. There's no need for an HDMI -> VGA converter in this situation.

Also - forgot to mention - if the monitor that is currently using DVI has an HDMI port then just use an HDMI cable. If not, then use the HDMI -> DVI cable to connect it.

That seller's description on that is really ridiculous. He's called it a DVI-D to VGA adapter and is telling people that their VGA devices can benefit from the quality of a digital signal by using that adapter. It's really a DVI-I to VGA adapter and when using one there is no digital signal. It just uses the analog pins on a DVI-I port to passthrough the analog VGA signal. That's why a DVI-I port is a DVI-I port and not a DVI-D port - it has both an analog (VGA) signal and a digital (DVI) signal. Very humorous description on that one
