Internet Gets Really Slow Once My PC Is Connected To It

My problem is whenever my PC connects to the Internet it will have like 30 seconds before the Internet on it will be unusable. It will still say it is connected but it will not be able to connect to skype, minecraft, steam, and Chrome. A 15 second temporary fix was to disconnect and reconnect, but again it only works for 15 seconds. When the internet stops on the PC the Internet on my iPad and phone also suffer. My router is a D-Link DIR-601. This only started happening 4 days ago. Drivers are up to date, I tried cleaning my PC, I did a winsock reset. I even flushed the dns, tried changing to google dns, rebooted the router and modem. Is the problem on my PC or is it that the router is dying? Oh and before you say call your ISP, once my PC disconnects, the Internet will be fine as if it never happened... BTW I ran windows defender and found nothing. :c

And how are you connecting to the internet? Ethernet or wireless? If wireless change the channel in the modem to something else

Sadly changing the channel from 11 to 6 didn't solve the problem entirely but it made it last a few seconds longer :/

Try 13. 11 would have been better than 6. Is the firmware up to date on the modem?

The router doesn't support channels up to 13 only 1-11

It is not a 5ghz router it's a 2.4

The router and modem are up to date

k what about the wireless , whats the brand/model of the adapter?

And is the firmware up to date on the modem?

The wireless adapter for my PC is a ralink rt5390 and yes the modem and router are up to date

According to some sites that adapter is pretty crappy. Did you install the drivers for this or let windows install drivers ?

It looks like the windows drivers are better (Is this an HP system)?

And what version of windows is installed?

The card may be crappy but before it was working fine. The drivers were windows installed in Windows update, I am running Windows 10

It is also an hp machine yes. If I miss a question be aware I'm using a phone to talk in the forums

Hmm well I would replace the adapter with something better. Thats the only other thing I can think of.

Ok so uh... I enabled and disabled my internet adapter and apparently it magically fixed it... And I already did this like 10 times wth oh well thanks a bunch haha I might actually buy a new adapter or router

I do download torrents, but only to test games and softwares to see if they are worth he money... But if it is a 300 dollar thing... I dunno

Scanned it no problem, I usually research the reviews on the torrents and skim through the things to make sure they are legitimate

They maybe legitimate but using torrents to get them isnt. They can still be infected with something

The problem with torrents, that can cause your exact symptoms, is leaving files available for seeding until the point the uploads swamp the ISP connection. Check that you have deleted the seeding or at least have placed a reasonable upload limit for those files you want to seed.

Welp the problem is back and I do stop seeding, I have peer blocker and I did make upload speed limit to 10 kb/s... Then after that I uninstalled utorrent but now, it still persists

I am pretty sure it is because of my network adapter, resetting it allows me to have internet again but then after 5 minutes it stops

Should I buy a USB network adapter or a pci card. They don't have much for pci locally and I really would like to avoid getting things online as much as possible

It is worth a try to get a new wifi adapter. PCI can be better but need a free slot and has other drawbacks too. Try a USB adapter that can be returned if it doesn't help.

We may also buy a router, it might be good for in upgrade from 2.4ghz to 5 GHz.
