So i have this problem, mainly with heavy games, when i play after a while my pc crashes and restarts. It doesnt freeze or give me Blue screen. It just shuts down. While playing those heavy games i solve this with placing a big fan outside of the open case. And it works, i can play as much as i want without problem.

What i think it is, is that it overheats. What exactly i dont know since i dont know what exactly made it crash. I cant alt because it wont crash and i cant have a smaller screen because again it wont crash. My gpu is new(MSI gtx970 the temps are around 40-50 depends on the room temp). My cpu is 5-6 years old but its still around 40-50 not going highter 53. The hottest thing in my PC is the motherboard tho its about 52C and it can reach even 55.

From all those i can see 2 possible problems. The gpy fan doesnt start to work at 60C when it supposed to. Causing it to overheat. Or my motherboard overheats. Is that even possible? Any ideas?

EDIT: It start happening even while i browse the internet. At random times even with an open case.

Sounds to me like you have a case cooling problem.

What case do you have?
What cpu do you have.

Ultimately, you need a case that can draw in sufficient air from the front to cool your components.
Normally, two 120mm or 140mm intakes can do the job.

I totaly forgot about that. Its as old as the CPU so basicly 5-6 years. But what i dont get is why does it help to have the fan or have an open case. Since all the air is coming from below the case.

I know but i still consider the temps low enough to not cause problems. The case is cosmos S. I had 3 fans on top of the case but i used 2 of those to replace the CPU cooler fans since they didnt work. Also i had to take out the one big side fan it has on the side since it couldnt fit with the CPU cooler. So right now i have 1 fan infront and 1 on top to draw in air and one on the back to draw out.

So it has a problem with air supply for sure. If only i was able to use that side fan.

Does the PSU draw air from inside the case? If it does, the large fan shoving cool air inside the case might drop the PSU's temperature just enough to keep it stable.

What's the PSU model? For anything below tier two on the list, 5-6 years would be a pretty good run.

Its a cooler master silent pro 850w. The air intake is from below the case.

Ok i did some testing. I runned witcher 3 with the case open and monitoring the CPU temp, GPU temp, Fan speed and Power usage. What i got is that the CPU and GPU were around 55-65. fans were working fine above 60C on the GPU. Power seemed to be in normal levels not anything crazy. It crashed after 30-1 hour. At the moment the GPU usage was at 99%. And then it crashed
