Hi guys/gals, I was gifted an Intellimouse 3.0 Steelseries edition(probably a knockoff really). But I'm loving it.
Problem is, the scroll tends to scroll by itself, kinda like a bit loose inside, no grip. So i Googled for a solution and most of them refers to a page, which is 5 years old, and no pictures inside.
I'd love to try it out, but I've never opened a mouse before and afraid that I might do something wrong based on text only.

Does anyone have another source with pictures on them? Or maybe an alternative guide?
Page in question : http://au.cybergamer.com/forums/thread/166796/HOW-TO-Fixing-scroll-wheel-on-Intellimouse-3.0/

Thank you in advance.

Solution
A video might help. It may alternately need some readjusting of the mouse settings or changing/refreshing the mouse driver... try the fixes suggested below and if they don't help, download/update the driver... it would also be a good idea to scan for virus and malware... some keyboard and mouse issues can be caused by infecction.

Thank you for the reply Chicano.

I am certain the problem lies not in the software, but purely hardware related. And it seems that you did gave me an answer in this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6Dko1GqtMM.
Which is pretty much what the page i referred was trying to do.
Don't suppose you have a link that is in English?

Nevertheless I thank you very much! I'm gonna try out my first ever dissecting a mice.

So I went and opened my mice anyway and lo and behold, it's totally different from the ones i see in videos and guides (confirmed knockoff lol). What I did was wipe some (a lot) of the grease on the roller gear thingy for the mouse wheel.

Now I'm happy to say it is much more rigid, not as loose as before.
Did it fix it? Not really, but it's now a whole lot better.

Thanks Chicano bro
