Can my ASUS P5B-E Plus support a PCI-E 2.0 x16 GPU?

No, there are usually several PCIe slots on most modern motherboards, some are PCI x16 whilst the others are PCIe x4 or x2 or first generation PCIe (x1). The slot specification is either marked next to each slot or shown in the mobo manual.

The ASUS P5B-E has the following expansion slots:

1 x PCIe x16
3 x PCIe x1
3 x PCI 2.2

The GTS 450 will work in any of the above PCIe slots because it only needs PCIe x1, but it won't work in any of the PCI slots obviously, indeed it won't even fit in a PCI slot.

Thanks a lot for your information. I've only used my x16 slot for GPU's, haven't tried to put it on a x1. And, sorry for selecting a best solution, I'm kinda new to this forum. Anyway, thanks again.
