Hello,

I’d like some advice on a new build for my father. Not a big budget, but he doesn’t need one for what he’s looking to do. The main requirements will need to be that it supports dual monitors and is good with multitasking. There will be no gaming outside of Facebook type games, so I don’t think he’ll even need a GPU, just a processor with decent onboard graphics. My preference would be to stay with Intel if possible.

Purchase date: now
Budget: $400 (US currency)
System use: Microsoft office, web browsing, occasionally streaming video
Monitor: not needed
OS: already have it
Hard drive: Already have Samsung SSD 240 gb
Preferred website: no preference
Location: US
Parts Preferences: Prefer Intel
Overclocking: no
SLI/Crossfire: no
Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 x2
Additional comments: Just looking for something functional that will be a good PC for him for 4-5 years that can run dual monitors for multitasking not games. As noted I do not need a hard drive, OS or monitors. Do need a wifi card though if you have any recommendations. Thanks in advance.

I' using an i5-4460 and with its integrated GPU it has no problem at running 2x 1080p monitors and 1x 768p. If you get an i3-6100 with DDR4 the integrated GPU will be way better, so it won't even have any problems.

Good build, but why not a case that is a lot smaller than that? And why a mothreboard that costs 100 dollars? Also, the Fractal Edison Semi-modular power supply is quite good quality and costs only 45 dollars right now. I would suggest these changes personally.

I'm getting the impression OCing isn't really going to be an option (but I could be wrong) so you could do away without the aftermarket cooler + Pentium option and pick up an i3 or an A10

A couple of mITX (with included AC wifi onboard) options:
