Yeah, Ive done that plenty of times.
I need to so somewhere as of now, but in an hour or two ill post a guide.
Do you have a PC running windows? (separate from he mac your trying to format)
Also you may need a pretty large Hard-drive, and what mac is your friends? e.g. MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014)
yes, i have a pc running windows 7, and my buddy has a iMac 24-inch, Early 2008. does that help? just let me know what i need to do, and if you need more info on my system or my buddy's. im not in a rush so take your time
Sorry for not getting back to you as fast as I said. Do you have a .iso of the specific Windows Operating System you would like to use?
I'd recommend buying the .iso with a product key from Microsoft.
Either way, once its downloaded, you'll also want to get 'Rufus' for you PC. You can find it here:
http://rufus.akeo.ie
Then run 'Rufus' and plug your hard-drive in. Using Rufus, make a Bootable USB. You can find a tutorial here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmtRE9LTCOE
Then simply plug your hard-drive into your mac, and restart it holding the option key.
A screen like this should come up:

Choose your hard-drive and windows will being to boot.
I doubt all these steps will work smoothly due to your macs older manufacturing date. Message back where you get upto and the problem you face. Ill try to help from there. Good luck!
