Today I have Upgraded my GPU from geforce 210 to Zotac Geforce GT 730 2 gb ddr5. Lot of improvement in graphics, but all games are still lagging in some stages. GTA IV is too laggy even I play it with mid-low settings. Some games like NFS 2012 lag at high settings. Looks like I shoud Upgrade my Processor too. Please suggest and Help

Pc specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 1066 fsb
7 GB DDR2 Ram,
280 watt PSU
Geforce GT 730 2GB DDR5
750 gb hdd
HCL 17" monitor.

I searched that processor on Intel's ARK and it says that that processor came out in 2006. 2006! No wonder your games are lagging. In my opinion, I'd buy a completely new system as it may be a little outdated to play "modern" games.

What if I upgrade the processor to the Quads, like Q6600 or Q6700. Will that improve the performance. Which one is the highest processor that this PC will take.

Please note that I am beginner and learning all the things. How to build a good system is in my Mind and I have been researching in all the components that are latest released. The ultimate gaming PC is my dream. Toms hardware has helped me in all the areas. Thanks alot to all the experts. Now its a tight budget and just helping my dream by upgrading the present.

I wouldn't get an OEM CPU. An OEM (or Original Equipment Manufacturer) CPU doesn't come with a CPU cooler so you'd have to buy one separately (unless you really wanted to do that) and has a much shorter warranty.
If you WERE to get the Q6600 CPU and bought a CPU cooler to go with it, it would work well with the GT 730 to play those games and they are both compatible. ALthough, you'd have to bear in ming that you would have to buy a cooler for your CPU.
