Wd Caviar Black Noise/Performance Question and Migrating OS to SSD Question

Ok, so lets start with the first one.

Now I have my wd caviar black 1tb for not very long time (I think more than half year
and I bought a new case which is very silent but the HDD is making very much noise. Not clicking/buzzing just noise. Like its struggling to open a program for example. Also another problem is that when I first start a program it takes fairly bit long but the second time I open it it opens like its on an SSD. I think this is because of the prefetch/superfetch feature? Maybe, but as I remeber it used to be a lot faster. But the boot time is still too fast for HDD. Any suggestions>?

Ok, so I m thinking into buying Samsung 850 evo 500gb SSD and have there my most frequently used games,programs and other things on the WD caviar black. My Questions here are:. Is there any better SSD at the same price from this site? http://www.skroutz.gr/
And also if I migrate the OS,programs everything from my HDD (which are 184gb in total) to the SSD will the SSD have same performance as with doing a windows clean install? As I have heard ssd's have the same r/w speed and access time in all the chips so it wont make any difference right?

So about the WD Black drive. As we're talking about a possible issue with an HDD, the 1st step should be to backup all of your important data which you might have on it, just to be on the safe side. Next, please make sure that everything has been properly connected since you've moved your system to a new case. Make sure that the SATA cables have been properly seated to the HDD, the motherboard and the PSU. You should also try the drive with a different SATA port and different cables, or even better - with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. Since you didn't have that problem before, make sure that the drive is properly mounted and that all the screws have been tightened.

run seagate seatools and run a short drive self test, see if it passes, it may simply be very fragmented constantly trying to have to search all over your hdd, defrag with auslogics disk defrag.

But the drive you were looking at is a good one, I have installed 3 of those so far, the clone tool it comes with works well. may take some time with that much stuff but shouldn't take that long, your pc will feel much much quicker, I hate using pcs without them now.

As this is a WD drive, I'd recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), just to double-check if everything's fine. As for the second questions, I believe that @06yfz450ridr has given you an answer about the SSD. About the performance - yes, if you migrate your system and everything works fine without any issues (you can boot properly to Windows without a hitch), then yes, you'll have the performance boost of the SSD.
Sorry mate, but as an official WD representative I can't recommend any devices from different manufacturers, but I'm sure that the others from the community will be more than helpful with that.

3. I am aware that you cant recommend an SSD But what would be faster?
Clean install or just Clone?
I mean on Hdd's its pretty obvious that clean install would be best but what about SSD'S

Also I think that it might had been the same in the past and I was just fooled by the preftech&superfetch features
Because the programs used/use to open slowly at first but at the second its like I have an SSD...

Also I know this is off topic but in their decription (prefetch&superfetch) windows say that they automatically put the program's files in the R.A.M so the programs opens fast but it doesnt say that you need to open the program once and then it will load the files for the next time

Do you know how I can make it load them by default without me having to open the program once everytime I boot the pc?

What were the results of the tests? Was everything OK?
As for your question about the OS - a fresh install is always recommended, no matter the type of the drive you're using.

About SuperFetch, you're quite right. This feature should make booting and opening regularly accessed programs faster. Unfortunately you can't choose the programs and apps manually. It's kind of like with an SSHD drive (a.k.a. a hybrid drive). It has a small SSD part and a larger capacity HDD part. The SSD's flash memory is used to store the more commonly accessed programs in order to speed things up.

I assumed so, but I just wanted to use it as a comparison so that you can get a better idea of how SuperFetch works. So basically it's even better that you already knew your stuff ;)

I'm really glad that the WD Black drive is OK, however if you feel like there might be something wrong with it - backup your data ASAP (if you don't keep regular backups, which is highly recommended) and re-test it, to see what's the situation.
