I recently purchased the Zotac 980 ti AMP! Edition, and I have been getting very low frame rates compared to my 970 strix. In GTA V, I get 50-60 sometimes higher fps on max settings, and i've seen benchmarks of others getting 90-100fps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCekvSIl76s) and I have no idea why the framerates are as low as they are in different games. In Witcher 3, I got around 60-80fps on 1080p which was better than my 970 frames. I have installed the drivers and everything, i'm just worried that there is something wrong with the card itself.

Since you have up-to-date drivers, what OS are you on? W7/8.1 or 10? If it's the first, enable high performance mode in the control panel. That resolves a lot of problems.
Second, did you enable all the options in the advanced settings menu, and did you push the antialiasing to the max? If so, disable some options and you shouldnt have any problems.

Hope it helps.

i7 3770, 16gb of DDR3 Ram, GTX 980 Ti

Max settings on 1080p. It goes from low forties to high fifties then back again. Overclocking helps but then if I overclock it too much it gets worse fps then when I try to lower the OC it gets lower fps than the stock speeds

How would I go about doing that? The NVIDIA control panel isn't very easy to maneuver around.

Yeah, but get this: When I try to lower the settings, I somehow get lower fps than before

Can you post a video on YouTube using Msi afterburner?

Include the following

For some reason, my video editing software only recorded the clip in 5fps, so that's ruined. Did you want gta gameplay or just Msi afterburner?

I used shadowplay to record, but when I put that footage into my editing software to add captions overtop of it it was recorded in 5fps.

You don't need to edit. All I need is raw shadow play footage with on screen display from Msi afterburner

Based on my observation you have a bit of a CPU bottleneck -- You gpu usage is around 80% which isn't bad however based on my memory my gpu usage is about 99% when playing this game.

I play @ 1440p, ultra settings with 2x msaa @ 2x msaa reflections...

My fps is higher however your fps isn't terrible considering you enabled 8x msaa and 8xmsaa reflections.

I just lowered my resolution to 1080p & increased my AA to 8x. Basically the same settings that you have...

I'm getting around 60-75 fps with a max of 80 fps and a min of 52. These are just numbers based on a 5 minutes of game play when driving...

I suggest play around with the settings util you get the desired performance Because to get more performance with the settings you're using you will most likely need to upgrade to 4790k or 6700k & OC to get the max increase.

I'm getting 98 -99% usage, I have a 4790k @ 4.6 cache and clock and a Titan X with @ 1340 Mhz actual clock.

I just didn't think that my cpu would be any sort of restraint on my gpu. I upgraded from an i5 2500k a year ago or two ago,

1.get rid of your OC

2. Set windows power settings to max performance.

3. In nvidia control panel set GpU max performance.

Can you let you me know if the above steps improve the GpU usage?

A couple of people have said to go into the nvidia control panel and set the gpu to max performance, but I actually don't know how.
