Constant Memory Failure

Hi,

So I bought some Kingston Hyper X Fury 1866mhz 16GB Ram to replace my (different colour to my colour scheme) 1600mhz blue crucial RAM. Bearing in mind the Crucial RAM works perfectly, When I use my Hyper X Fury RAM at 1866mhz my computer cannot run at all and at 1600mhz it runs but blue screens very often and often creates registry errors. Everythinig appears fine however running at 1333mhz ?????!!!??? This is a second lot of the same RAM as I already replaced it thinking it was the ram that was faulty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PC specs below:

Corsair CX750w PSU
ASUS Z97-P Mobo
Intel Core i5 4690K OCed to 4.5 Ghz
MSI GAMING GTX 980ti 6G
120GB SSD
1TB HDD
4 Fans (5 including heatsink for CPU)

No - it's perfectly safe, I seldom ever use DRAM under 2133 in my client builds and they all rn with 1.65 - 1.5 is simply the suggested for base level 1600 sticks, Intel certifies DRAM through 1.65

Hi I am so sorry i did not mean to vote down anyones answers... i tapped it by accident as am on my phone. As for tge whole default clock thing I don't want to try it at default clock speeds as I dont want to lose my overclock settings. XMP is disabled. And all speeds are being read through bios.

Haha, it's no problem :) You should use the ram's XMP profile. There should be an XMP profile contained on the ram that sets it to 1866 at the timings that kingston rates it at. This setting is in your BIOS. There's really no need to manually configure the speed and timings unless you are trying to overclock the ram or tighten its timings. I assume the ram's 1866 and timings are rated at 1.5v right? You don't want to run it any higher than 1.5v. It sounds to me like you just need to use the ram's xmp profile by enabling it in BIOS. Another thing - are you doing just a multiplier OC or have you adjusted the bclk frequency?

I am not really sure. I know the multiplier is set to 45 and the option sync all cores is on but I bought this overclocked as i like that warranty they gave me. Also I think my motherboard classes anything higher than 1600 mhz as overclocked. At 1600 mhz it is rated at 1.5v so im not sure if it increases or not. Also the XMP profile option on my mothrrboard does not have a enable option?? Wondering if this is due to the fact that my mobo classes 1866mhz as an overclock?? Sorry about all this and thanks alot for your help.

I think u need to revert back to the original speed of the CPU . Your CPU seems to be overclocked by multipliers (45x100mhz) and the mismatch of CPU and Ram speeds may be causing the blue screens.

Why not note the current CPU voltage and overclock settings and then start a base clock overclock and see if it works?

Do you have the latest BIOS and mobo drivers? XMP will do nothing for you as the Fury don't use XMP (no profiles) they work off of PnP. Try each stick individually, if both work OK by themselves, install and set the DRAM voltage manually to 1.56

Hi,

I will give that a go but isn't setting my RAM to 1.56 dangerous for my CPU? Intel tell you not to use RAM above 1.5 AND my CPU is OCed?

thanks

How do you mean mismatch between CPU & RAM Speeds. Also I will contact the supplier and see if they have a saved version of my OC profile and so if i lose it I can just re-load it.

And yeah was going to say that XMP doesn't even have an enable option with this RAM

Hi I did change the DRAM Voltage to 1.56 but was still unable to boot with 1866mhz. However the voltage didn't actually look like it changed. still said 1.5v?? not sure if this means that it didn't change. Speccy is telling me its running at 1.5

Hi tradesman,

So I managed to fix it. Basically I just reverted all OCs back to standard. Tried the ram at that setting and it worked at 1866 1.5v. I changed it back to 1333 and re-made the overclock myself (first time i've overclocked so kinda proud even though its dead simple ) and then changed the RAM back to 1866mhz at 1.5 and all seems fine. Not entirely sure what is was tbh but that fixed it anyhow. I really appreciate your help so your getting a Best Answer from me mate.
