Upgrading AMD Radeon HD 6570 + PSU, $300 budget

I've read a few topics about this graphics card, but they were a few years old and I was wondering if there are any better cards now within budget. I am a casual gamer and ran into problems when I tried to play Dragon Age: Inquisition. I'd rather have higher graphics and lower FPS if that makes any difference, and no overclocking.

The biggest problem might be fitting it into my case. I have an old pre-built HP computer (specs below). I also know I need to replace my PSU.

Ideally I'd like to spend under $200, but I can go up to $300 if it makes sense. I don't need the best graphics, I'd just like to not play on Low and have artifacts everywhere. What gpu and psu can I get that will fit inside my computer? I'm really new at this and don't want to order the wrong thing!

SPECS:

COMPUTER: HP Pavilion CTO H8-1070T (Full page)

GPU: Radeon HD 6570 (1 GB) single bracket; DVI, HDMI, & VGA via adapter
PSU: 300W

SCREEN: Dual monitors 1920x1080 res

PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-2600 (Sandybridge)

MEMORY: 8 GB (4 x 2 GB) DDR3 PC3-10600

PREFERRED WEBSITE: amazon or newegg

OS: Windows 7 64-bit (I think my super old graphics card is preventing me from upgrading to Win10???)

Thanks for your help!

I think the PSU might be proprietary. Is there anything I can do about it?

This is what it says on it:
HP Switching Power Supply
Model : DPS-300AB-49 A
Input: 100-200V ~/6A, 50-60Hz
Output: Max Power 300W

My PC is an HP Pavilion Elite h8-1070t and here's a page with full specs: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c02837359

In case anyone comes back to this thread:

1) The Corsair PSU worked great. I ended up going for the 600W, but the sizes of the two were the same.

2) The R9 380 gpu is TOO BIG to fit inside the chassis. I returned that and got the GTX 960 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487154) which fits nicely, except now it's stuck on the loading screen with three beeps (one beep, 40 second pause, two short beeps), and I can't enter bios. Everything works great when I swap it out for the old graphics card, so it's not a ram issue. Everything is plugged correctly, old video drivers uninstalled, bios updated from hp's website to 7.12. The last bios update was for windows 7, so I wonder if it's just too old for the graphics card?

Anyway, just wanted to share the results of this. Not sure what my options are at this point.

The 1-2 beep is display adapter problem code. Sorry to hear the 380 was to big for your case. Back to the 960 you mentioned you got the 600watt was this one modular or not. If its a modular one make sure the power cables are tugged all the way in on the PCIx cords tot he base of the psu. If they are not making contact property this would cause the card to not boot fully. Try it with your old PSU and see if it boots the desktop. 300 watt is fine to boot the system just not for playing a game, as under utilized the 960 uses very little power. If it boots with your old one then you know its an issue with the new one.

It is non-modular.

I tried again with my old PSU and it still doesn't boot although I noticed the beeps are actually 1 beep, 30 second wait, 1 long beep, 2 short beeps. Not sure if I was too tired last night and heard wrong.

1-1-2 is board issues 1-1-3 is cmos issues. You mentioned your old gpu works if you replace it with the 960 on the new PUS right?

Have you tried clearing the cmos and setting the bios settings to default?

After replacing it with the old GPU, I reset the BIOS to default and cleared the CMOS on the motherboard for good measure. Then I switched back and still got the same problem.

This is my motherboard btw: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02854392

Are you certain I need 4GB? Although I have 2 monitors, I'm only gaming on one 1080p.

It's becoming more and more useful in recent games. If you're ok with lowering textures, then the 2GB might be fine.
