ddr3 compatible with ddr5

hi i have a question
i recently bought a r7 240 graphics card and found out it was't that great. now i want to buy a new card (gtx 960) and i'm afraid my motherboard and the card wont match. so my question is: is a ddr3 motherboard compatible with a ddr5 card?
specs (if needed)
CPU: intel core i5 3470
8 gigabyte of ddr3 RAM
motherboard: B75M-D3V
GPU: R7 240

DDR3 and GDDR5 is essentially the same technology. The only difference is that GDDR5 has a higher effective memory clock and is used exclusively by the GPU. Yes, GDDR5 GPUs will work on DDR3 systems. If it's just gaming, I'd recommend the R9 380 for its better performing core. Anything besides gaming, I'd recommend the GTX 960. If you wan't to save a few...

It will perform closely to the 960 2GB variant.
