Hey Guys
my logitech g 27 racing wheel seems to have incurred a peculiar problem
when im playing any of the above games
it runs fine for 2-3 minutes
and all of a sudden the fps drops to under 10
for the first 2-3 minutes the game runs perfectly smoothly at the usual 100-120fps

the problem does not occur with the keyboard
and when the problem happens it comes back to normal if i unplug my g27 USB from the PC and continue playing with the keyboard

the games were playing perfectly fine earlier
id just not used my g27 for a while
and today all of a sudden when i used it again
this problem

please help

Okay disonnect your wheel and delete and completely remove all Logitech profiler software. You may need to download and use a Windows registry clean up program like CCleaner to completely remove all Logitech profiler remnants that may run in the background and cause a conflict.

Then reconnect the wheel after a reboot and only let Windows recognize it. Then go into each game and set up the wheel manually with the in-game settings. PCars has a specific wheel calibration setup utility in the game. The only thing I really even used Logitech's profiler for was changing the degree of rotation (same with how I only use my Thrustmaster profiler now).

I always felt that the profiler tool does a better job at the Windows desktop level than...
I have all the above racers and used to play them with my G27 before upgrading to a Thrustmaster T300 (but using the excellent G27 pedals with an adapter). Never have I heard of this happening nor have I experienced it myself.

Please list your operating system and version. Also what version of the Logitech Profiler software do you have installed? I see your hardware should be running these games fine (4690K, 970). Your PSU looks fine too. If the game runs fine on a keyboard, then you are certainly not running into any CPU or GPU thermal downthrottling issues.

EDIT: A moderator may move this to another forum section depending on what your problem may wind up being (highly unlikely it's the video card or any other hardware related issue). Just a heads up.

yes it most certainly isnt a hardware issue

I have windows 7 ultimate with service pack 1
i had the basic logitech profiler before i ran into this problem
but as per advice on some forums i deleted that and upgraded to v8.70
which doesnt seem to help at all
it only detects my logitech g400s mouse

I always felt that the profiler tool does a better job at the Windows desktop level than going into the game and making the same effective changes (going from 900 degrees in PCars to 720 in Rally to 270 for F1 for example where smaller steering input is more realistic). If all that still doesn't work, then I am stumped what the issue could be...especially since it is not replicated with using a keyboard.

Most likely something in Windows does not like your wheel and/or profiler software, and for some reason there's a Windows conflict somewhere. I'm also going to go out on a limb and assume you have already simply tried using different USB ports with the wheel just to make sure one port isn't acting screwy as well. Good luck.
